Mom's Christmas presents

For Christmas I knitted Mom another pair of socks. There were like the blue ones I made her for her birthday except these are red.

I also made her 4 pairs of earrings.

These pots were made for cooking

Lately I've had a craving for brownies and chicken and dumplings although not together.
PB cup brownies brought you by Duncan Hines.

Chicken and dumplings even though I should have called it dumplings and dumplings. More chicken and a bigger pot next time.

Potato salad that I made for Christmas dinner and was a big hit. I don't think it's a coincidence that Dad asked me to make more potato salad and the grocery store has bags of potatoes buy 1 get 1 free. I'll share the secret ingredient---cat hair.

Last, but not least, cheese turkey burger pie. It's supposed to be cheese burger pie, but all I had was ground turkey so it became cheese turkey burger pie.

Muggie's Bed

Muggie's Christmas present this year is a bed. She's had the blanket, but it was time to make a bed out of it.It supposed to be brown tabby like her, but I think it looks more camoflauge. In case you are wondering, her bed is a cardboard box I got out of the junk boxes bin at Costco and painted.

Muggie's Blanket Story

There is a story behind how Muggie's blanket became hers. I spent a month or so knitting a blanket as a Mother's Day gift for my Mom. I finished it a couple of days before Mother's Day. While I was weaving in the ends I noticed that the yarn had broken in the middle of the blanket. It unraveled and there was a big hole. Since it was the first blanket I had ever knitted I was too heartbroken to throw it away. I tossed it in my craft corner. Several months later I was cleaning out my craft corner (don't laugh, I really do get around to cleaning my craft corner from time to time) and I put it in the "throw out pile." I finished cleaning and Muggie was sleeping on the blanket. That's how the blanket became Muggie's. She didn't care that it had a big hole in it and it made me happy that someone was getting some use out of it.

Picture of Muggie for cuteness.

So You Think You Can Cook

I made chow mein before we left for the beach. It was quite tasty. I'm going to make more this week for dinner.
I made blueberry muffins to take with us on the trip. Nothing special, just good ol' Duncan Hines.

Birthday at the Beach

I decided to spend my birthday at Myrtle Beach this year. We stayed at the Crown Reef. We've stayed there before and loved it. This time we got a king jacuzzi suite. I swear the bedroom was bigger than my bedroom at home. It was really nice. We were on the top floor and had an awesome view.
Pictures of the suite---

Jacuzzi tub (it got a lot of use)

The dot in the middle of the last beach picture is actually a person.

I had two birthday cakes this year. We bought one at the beach. It was an ice cream cake. Since I got a Dallas Cowboys watch and hoodie for my birthday I kept with the football theme and got a football ice cream cake.
The second one we had last night at Mom and Dad's house.
